Have you ever played "Wikipedia Roulette"? It is a game I've seen a couple of variations of, but basically, you click the "Random Article" link on Wikipedia, and see what comes up.
Try it - how many attempts does it take till you find an article related to anything you do, have done in the past, are likely to do in the future?
Here are my first five attempts of the session (with some text copied from the page in question):
  • Dinas Rhondda railway stationA railway station serving the Dinas, Penygraig and Trealaw districts of Tonypandy, Wales
Well, I've been to Wales, but I don't think I've ever been to this station!
  • LichtenbornA municipality in the district of Bitburg-Prüm, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany
Interestingly, the second random article is also a geographic location. Again, not one I can remember going to (though I have been to Germany)!
  • Gmina Teresin: A place in Poland
Wow, we are on a roll with places today! Also not one I've been to though.
  • 2010 Monterey Sports Car Championships: Some sort of car race, it seems
Never heard of it, doubtful I'll ever go to it.
  • Jordan Dane: A romantic thriller Young-adult fiction novelist
Finishing off this first round, I've never heard of this person either.
I could go on. There is a huge world of things/people/events/places that I've never heard of before. Does it make you think - what is really worth anything in life?

In closing, I clicked the link to go to one more random article, just to see what it would be, and see if it could be something I'd ever heard of. It turned out to be "Why People Believe Weird Things: Pseudoscience, Superstition, and Other Confusions of Our Time". Funny, hey?!
